Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his family members were placed under home quarantine after they reached Budhana town in UP from Mumbai, police said on Monday.

Siddiqui, along with his family members, reached his hometown on Saturday after getting necessary permission for travel from the authorities in Maharashtra, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Nepal Singh said.

He said the actor and the family members were tested for COVID-19 but their reports came negative.

However, they have been placed under mandatory 14-day home quarantine, Singh said.

Nawazuddin''s brother Ayazuddin Siddiqui said the actor came to his ancestral place to celebrate Eid with his family.

However a close source informs ABP News that, the actor took the risqué of travelling during the covid 19 crisis due to his mother's declining health. Apparently, Nawaz's mother had arrived in Mumbai a few days before lockdown was announced for her eye operation, however she had had to extend her stay owing to the nationwide lockdown. But off lately she had started getting anxieties as she was used to live in the village lifestyle and was finding it difficult to adjust in Mumbai for such long time, her blood pressure too increased following which the actor decided to take her home.

On the work front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen next in Pushpendra Nath Misra's Ghoomketu. The film also stars Anurag Kashyap, Raghubir Yadav, Swanand Kirkire, Ila Arun and Ragini Khanna in pivotal roles. Actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha make special appearances in the film.
