Telugu film ‘Arjun Reddy’ proved to be a massive hit when it hit the silver screens last year. Ever since Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor was roped in to play the lead role in the Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed film, fans have not been able to control their excitement. The makers have finally announced the release date of the much-awaited film. The film will release on June 29, 2019 and the shooting for the same will commence in August. Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who directed the original Telugu blockbuster, will helm the Hindi remake. The film will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde.

The official Twitter handle of T-Series made the announcement on the micro-blogging site. ‘’@shahidkapoor starrer #ArjunReddy directed by @imvangasandeep produced by #BhushanKumar, @muradkhetani, Krishan Kumar & @ashwinvarde will hit theatres on 21st June 2019. This @TSeries & @Cine1Studios film goes on floors in August,’’ the tweet read.

The original film focused on a medical student (Arjun Reddy), who falls in love with his junior in college but goes on self-destruction part when his ladylove is forced to marry someone else.

Shahid Kapoor had earlier shared a picture with the film’s producers and director on Twitter.

A report in a leading daily suggested that Shahid will grow a beard for his role in the film. The lead role required the ‘Padmaavat’ to have a full-grown beard.

Although, the director was ready to use a fake beard, Shahid was quite convinced and he decided to grow a real one. The makers of the film had plans to commence their shooting in July but they postponed as growing a beard takes times, the report in Times of India suggested.

Talking about Shahid, the actor will be next seen in ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam. The Shree Narayan Singh directorial will hit the cinema theatres on September 14.

The 'Haider' will also become a father soon as his wife Mira Rajput is expecting their second child. It's a double celebration for Shahid as he became the latest Bollywood celebrity to have his own wax statue at Madame Tussauds.
