Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first day box office of ‘Mardaani 2’ on Twitter. He mentioned that the film witnessed a stronger occupancy post the 3pm shows and the numbers should multiply on Saturday and Sunday.
“#Mardaani2 witnesses stronger occupancy post 3 pm shows, after a lukewarm takeoff in morning... Multiplexes are dominating... Riding on super-strong word of mouth + tremendous critical acclaim, the footfalls should multiply on Day 2 and 3... Fri ₹ 3.80 cr. #India biz,” Adarsh tweeted.
'Mardaani', which released in 2014, had collected Rs 3.46 crore on the opening day. Rani's previous release 'Hichki' had minted Rs 3.32 on the first day.
'Mardaani', which has produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films, released across 1600 screens in India.
Rani Mukerji reprised her role of a fearless and feisty police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy in 'Mardaani 2'. The story focused on how her character nabbed a serial rapist, who killed girls mercilessly. The Bengali beauty received critical acclaim for her power-packed performance in the film. The antagonist Vishal Jethwa emerged as the surprise package and made fans hate with his convincing act as a villain.
