New Delhi: Legendary Bollywood singer Lata Mangeshkar, who turned 90 in September, was rushed to the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on early Monday morning. She was admitted to the hospital after she suffered a chest infection. An official spokesperson on Saturday (November 16) said in a statement, '"Lata didi is doing good today.". However, reports are coming that the ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’ singer's health is critical. She is still in the ventilator under the constant supervision of the doctors.


Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, while replying to Shobhaa De's tweet, said that Lata Mangeshkar is stable and recovering well. He asked everyone to pray for her speedy recovery. The 'Fashion' director added that he spoke to Usha Mangeshkar.

''No ma’am @DeShobhaa just spoke to Usha Tai.... Lata didi is stable and recovering well...let's pray for her speedy recovery,'' Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted.


The veteran singer, who began her career in 1942 is a recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards. She has lent her voice to over 25,000 songs in over 20 Indian languages.

Lata, who has been active on social media despite her advancing age, had earlier wished actress and niece Padmini Kolhapure good luck for her upcoming film 'Panipat' co-starring Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.

She tweeted, ''Namaskar. Meri bhaanji Padmini Kolhapure ek bahut acchi kalakar hai aur ab woh Panipat is film mein  Gopika bai ka kirdaar nibha rahi hai. Main Padmini ko aashirwad deti hun aur Ashutosh aur unki team ko shubhkaamanayein deti hun.''


Bollywood celebs including Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon and Shabana Azmi had wished for her speedy recovery.
