New Delhi: Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra’s father Devendra Nath Misra left for his heavenly abode on Thursday (April 2) morning. He passed away due to a heart ailment, the ‘Inkaar’ director confirmed. Sudhir took to Twitter to the share the news of his father’s death.


Calling his father a man of many talents, Sudhir Mishra tweeted, "My Dad Dr Devendra Nath Misra, passed away this morning. A Lucknow boy. Was many things. A Mathematician and went on to become a Professor of Mathematics, Sagar University, Jt. Education Advisor, Mini of Education, Dep Director CSIR, Head of MP Science and Technology and Vice Chancellor BHU.”



Anubhav Sinha, who directed Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Thappad’, offered condolences to Mishra’s family. The ‘Article 15; director tweeted, "Sudhir Bhai lost his father this morning to a heart ailment. Deep condolences. Last rites to be performed at 5 this evening at Jogeshwari. @IAmSudhirMishra."



Nikkhil Advani said that many people were unaware of the contribution of Sudhir Mishra’s parents to the film industry. "Terrible news regarding the passing away of a gentleman, visionary thinker and teacher. Most don’t realise the contribution of Sudhir’s parents to the film industry of today. They opened their house and hearts for all dreamers that walked into it. #RIPDNMishra @IAmSudhirMishra," the ‘Batla House’ director wrote on the micro-blogging site.



The last rites of Dr Devendra Nath Misra took place on Thursday evening at Jogeshwari, Mumbai. Talking about Sudhir Mishra, the ace filmmaker has directed films like 'Khoya Khoya Chand', 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' and 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi'.
