New Delhi: 'Vaathi' starring Dhanush continues to do well in theatres. The film was released in Tamil as 'Vaathi' and in Telugu as 'Sir' on February 17 and has been receiving positive reviews from both audiences and critics. As per reports, 'Vaathi' has managed to beat 'Shehzada' and Marvel's 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' at the box office.


'Vaathi' collected Rs. 60 crores in 5 days and the film collected Rs.5 crores on its 6th day of release taking the worldwide gross to Rs 65 on Thursday. As per a Zoom TV report, early trends indicate that on Day 7, the Dhanush starrer has made between Rs. 2.50 crores to Rs. 3 crores in India. 


Vaathi' has also been doing exceptionally well especially in the USA market. The film has reportedly earned Rs. 2.4 crores in the US market alone. The film's overall collection outside India stands at Rs. 5 cores. 'Vaathi' is showing no signs of slowing and is continuously generating more numbers at the box office. 


It is expected that 'Vaathi' will continue to do well in the second week as well with a major portion of the business coming from Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states.


'Vaathi/Sir' marks Dhanush's Telugu debut as well. Samyuktha plays the female lead in the film directed by Venky Atluri. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music of the film which has been appreciated by all. 


'Vaathi' is the story of a third-year junior lecturer at an institute in Balamurugan who stands up to the establishment that provides children with education in exchange for business profits. 


Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer 'Shehzada' has had a tough week with a collection of only Rs. 26.50 crores nett. As per boxoffice india.com, the film has failed to attract the mass markets in Gujarat, Rajasthan and CI, which generally respond well to family entertainers.
