Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s Mumbai wedding reception was nothing short of a blockbuster affair. The who’s who of Bollywood attended the bash at Grand Hyatt to wish the newly wedded couple.  Tinsel town stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Arjun Kapoor were seen having a gala time at DeepVeer’s reception party. However, several big names like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan were conspicuous by their absence.

Speculations were rife that Ranbir and Alia couldn’t attend the bash because of their busy schedule. The two actors reportedly did a 20 hours shift for their film ‘Brahmastra’ and hence they couldn’t attend the reception.

However, a new report in an entertainment portal has suggested that Ranbir skipped the reception for a different reason. The ‘Sanju’ actor gave the reception a miss because of the jokes of him attending the party and singing ‘Channa Mereya’.

Ever since DeepVeer announced their wedding, memes and jokes on Ranbir’s singing ‘Channa Mereya’ at Deepika's wedding have been doing the rounds on social media. The song is from  'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and it featured Ranbir crooning when Anushka Sharma's character marries someone else in the film.

"The joke about Ranbir singing and dancing to Channa Mereya at Deepika Padukone–Ranveer Singh wedding got to Ranbir. He doesn’t appreciate the public image of the serial dater who never gets the girl. Ranbir is now looking for permanence in his relationship. And you are right. The image of loser in love through his roles doesn’t help. He just decided to stay away from Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding reception although both of them had invited him personally and urged him to come," a friend of the Kapoor family told Bollywood Hungama.

Here’s a look at some of memes and jokes which were going viral on the internet.

On the professional front, Ranbir has some exciting projects in his kitty, be it ‘Brahmastra’ or ‘Shamshera’.
