New Delhi: Movie buffs have been eagerly waiting to see the real-life jodi of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh once again on the silver screen. The couple will be seen together in Kabir Khan’s much-awaited film ‘83’. The sports drama, based on India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup victory, was slated to hit the silver screens on April 10, 2020. However, the film couldn’t release on its scheduled date as the cinema halls were shut due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Gossip mills have been buzzing with the Deepika Padukone would oversee the post-production work of ‘83’ after Shibasish Sarkar, CEO of Reliance Entertainment Group, tested positive for Coronavirus.
A source close to the film has refuted all the rumours while talking to a leading daily. The report said that DP is not taking over any pending work of ‘83’.
“In times of COVID-19, when all of us should be wishing each other well, a false and insensitive story has been done. Deepika Padukone, as a producer, like all producers of 83 is an integral part of the project. But when a film has a highly able director like Kabir Khan, who is dedicatedly looking into this post production, where is the need for anyone else to do anything?,” the source told Times Of India.
Ranveer Singh is playing the role of former Indian Cricket team captain Kapil Dev in ‘83’. Deepika Padukone, who is the co-producer, is playing his on-screen wife in the movie. ‘83’ will trace the journey of the Indian team led by Kapild Dev, which won the World Cup in England.
The film also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani Sahil Khattar, Saqib Saleem and Harrdy Sandhu in key roles.
Talking about Deepika, the ‘Chhapaak’ actress also has Shakun Batra’s upcoming film in her kitty. The movie also stars Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
