New Delhi: Directed by Srijit Mukherji Vidya Balan starrer 'Begum Jaan' has failed to make an impression at the box office. The film has earned only Rs 1.59 cr on Tuesday to the total earnings of Rs 14.94 cr according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.


'Begum Jaan' is an adaptation of the Bengali film 'Rajkahini'. The film is a story about 11 women living in a brothel during partition of undivided India with half of the house in India and the other half in Pakistan post-Partition.

Talented actress Vidya Balan is seen as madam of the brothel. Film also stars Gauahar Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Chunky Pandey, Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun, Priyanka Sethia, Flora Saini, Ridhima Tiwari, Ravija Chauhan and Poonam Rajput. Film's dialogues have been penned by Kausar Munir and Rahat Indori.
