Adarsh Gourav, who played the role of Balram Halwai in Ramin Bahrani’s ‘The White Tiger’, has been nominated for the BAFTA Awards 2021 in the category of Leading Actor. The nomination list for 74th British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards was announced on Tuesday (March 9).
Gourav will be vying for the winner’s trophy along with Riz Ahmed, (Sound of Metal), late Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) Anthony Hopkins (The Father), Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian) and Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round). The Indian actor received critical acclaim for his power-packed performance in the drama film co-starring Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao.
‘The White Tiger’ has also been nominated in the category of best adapted screenplay. Priyanka Chopra, who is one of the executive producers of the film, took to Twitter to congratulate Adarsh and the team for securing a nomination in two main categories. The 'Quantico' star said that her co-star Gourav deserved all the recognition.

Priyanka, who played the role of Pinky in ‘The White Tiger’, featured in the Supporting Actress category in BAFTA’s long list. The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actress couldn’t make it to the final list in her category.
‘The White Tiger’ is based Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same name. The film, which released on Netflix, focused on the story of Balram, who managed to come out of poverty using his presence of mind and wit. The movie received a good response from the audience upon its release on the streaming giant.
Indian Actors Who Were Nominated At BAFTA Awards
Veteran actor Anupam Kher and Suraj Sharma have previously bagged nominations at BAFTA Awards. While Kher was nominated for his performance in ‘The Boy with The Topknot’ in Supporting Actor category, Sharma secured a nomination in category of Rising Star for ‘Life of Pi’.
The BAFTA Awards 2021 will take place on April 10 and 11 at Royal Albert Hall, London.
