New Delhi: The multi-lingual musical romance film ’99 Songs’ produced by the ace musician A.R. Rahman was all set to release on April 16, 2021, but has now been postponed due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases. Directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy and co-written by Rahman, the movie stars debutant Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas in lead roles. Aditya Seal, Lisa Ray and Manisha Koirala will also be seen portraying vital characters in the movie.


The makers of ’99 Songs’ released the trailer of the upcoming musical drama and it looks promising. The trailer traces the emotional journey of a musician whose life centres around his love for music and his girlfriend.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, earlier today, took to her official Twitter account and praised the trailer of ’99 Songs’. The ‘Text For You’ actress wrote that she is ‘looking forward to the film’.


PeeCee tweeted, “Music has the power to move mountains and no one understands that better than the amazing @arrahman. What an electric trailer... looking forward to the film. All the very best Rahman sir, @itsEhanBhat & #EdilsyVargas @YM_Movies”.



’99 Songs’ was premiered at the 24th Busan International Film Festival under the Open Cinema category on 9 October 2019. It also marks A.R. Rahman’s debut as a screenwriter and producer. The movie will be dubbed and released in both Tamil and Telugu with the same name.
