New Delhi: Akshay Kumar recently opened up about his mother's death and how it affected him. Akshay's mother Aruna Bhatia died on September 8, 2021. Akshay was very close to his mother and often quotes her during interviews sharing how much he has learned from his mother. During an interview for the promotions of his film 'Selfiee', Akshay declared how badly he was shaken up after the death of his mother.
In a promo for AajTak’s chat show Seedhi Baat, the show’s host stated that the actor was very attached to his mother, and even told him that none of his films have worked after her death using a dialogue from the film 'Deewar' to ring in his point. He said, "Aaj aapke paas naam hai, shohrat hai, bangla hai, par maa nahi hai." Akshay teared up and asked the host to move on to the next topic. When the host insisted and asked about what his mother would have told him if she had been alive amid his dry spell. Akshay recalled his mother’s words, and shared, “Unki ek badi famous line hai, ‘Fikr nahi kar puttar, babaji tere naal hai’.
Meanwhile, Akshay was also asked if his son Aarav was interested to join the film industry, to which Akshay said, “Usko shauq nahi hai, Main bas chahta hu ke wo khush rahe."
Akshay's latest release 'Selfiee' has been directed by Raj Mehta, who has collaborated with Akshay in films like 'Good Newwz'. 'Selfiee' also stars Emraan Hashmi. Akshay has had a slate of flops in 2022 with films like 'Samrat Prithviraj', 'Ram setu', 'Raksha Bandhan' and 'Bachchan Paandey'. Although some films decent business like ‘Bachchan Paandey’, most Akshay films flopped.
Despite, Akshay's films performance on the box office, he still has a slate of films in the pipeline for production and release.
