Mumbai: Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’, which stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, is one of the most awaited films of 2021. The release of the action drama has been delayed twice due to the COVID-19 crisis. The movie was originally slated to hit the silver screens in March 2020; however, the makers had to postpone the release due to the Coronavirus-induced lockdown.
Movie buffs were quite excited when the producers announced that ‘Sooryavanshi’ would arrive in the cinema halls on April 30, 2021. They had to change their plans in the wake of the second wave of COVID-19 in India.
If a recent report in Box Office Worldwide is to be believed, the highly-anticipated flick will finally hit the theatres on August 15, 2021. Yes, you read that right!
Akshay Kumar’s Statement
Speculations about the release of ‘Sooryavanshi’ have been rife since a long time. Last month, Akshay issued a statement and requested the fans to wait for an official announcement and not pay heed to the rumours floating on the internet. He said that the makers of his films are working out to decide a suitable release date.
“I’m humbled at the excitement and eagerness of my fans regarding the release of Sooryavanshi and BellBottom and want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for all their love. However, at this point, it is purely speculative to say that both films [Sooryavanshi, BellBottom] will release on #IndependenceDay. The producers of both films are working out the release dates and will make announcements at the right time,” the 'PadMan' star said in a statement.
