Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently being questioned in connection with the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has reportedly confessed that he wanted to kill Salman Khan in 2018 over the blackbuck poaching case.

According to various reports, Bishnoi has allegedly confessed that he sent a member of his gang, Sampat Nehra, to shoot the actor in 2018.

Bishnoi reportedly told that Nehra only had a pistol and didn’t have a long-distance firing weapon so the gangster then ordered an RK Spring rifle through a man identified as Dinesh Dagar. The rifle was bought for Rs 4 lakh. The payment was reportedly made to an associate of Dagar. The rifle was later recovered in 2018 from Dagar’s possession, a report by News18.com stated.

Bishnoi reportedly said during interrogation that blackbucks are dear to the Bishnoi community.

Earlier on July 6, Hastimal Saraswat, a lawyer representing Salman Khan in the blackbuck poaching case, claimed he had received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Last month, Mumbai Police's Crime Branch unit also questioned gangster Bishnoi in connection with the threat letter sent to Salman and his father Salim Khan.

According to PTI, the letter read, "Salim Khan, Salman Khan Bahot Jald Aapka Mooselwala Hoga G.B L.B... (Salim Khan, Salman Khan, very soon you will meet Moosewala's fate.)" It was speculated that G. B. and L. B. may refer to gangsters Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi.

The Mumbai Police had then enhanced the security around the actor's residence in suburban Bandra.

Salman was sentenced to five years in jail by a Jodhpur court in April 2018 for killing two blackbucks in October 1998. The actor has challenged the conviction.
