South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun broke down in tears as he denied the allegations that he dated actress Kim Sae-ron while she was underage, insisting he could not "admit what is not true."

During a press conference, he apologised for the distress caused by the controversy surrounding Kim Sae-ron. Kim Soo-hyun urged the public to allow him a fair chance to share his side of the story regarding the tragic incident involving his former girlfriend and the ensuing media storm.
At the press conference, Kim Soo-hyun became visibly emotional and pleaded with the public to let Kim Sae-ron rest in peace. However, Kim Soo-hyun's viral video has sparked mixed reactions, with some netizens accusing him of shedding 'fake tears.'
Kim Soo-hyun on dating Kim Sae-ron
Kim Soo-hyun revealed that he dated the late actress for a year four years ago and admitted that he had struggled to acknowledge the rumors about their relationship during that time.
He said, "I am sorry for causing so much pain to many people. I also feel sad that the deceased seems unable to rest in peace. The deceased and I dated for about one year, four years ago, before the 'Queen of Tears' aired. At that time, I denied the rumours."
The actor added, "I understand why people have criticised this and don't trust what happened between us. Except for the fact that both of us were actors, our relationship was like any other ordinary couple. We dated with good feelings, and after some time, we broke up. After that, we couldn’t stay in touch the way we used to. Like any other couple, reaching out to an ex after a breakup is something one must approach with caution," he shared.
Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her residence in Seoul on February 16. According to the Seongdong Police, her death was ruled a suicide.
