New Delhi: 'KGF: Chapter One' actor Anant Nag has commented on the ongoing 'Besharam Rang' controversy from the film 'Pathaan'. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer has created a lot of controversy especially because of this song. Netizens on social media have called the portrayal of Deepika as 'obscene' 'provocative' 'a means to promote rape culture in India' among other things. Now, Kannada actor Anant Nag has shared his opinion about the same.

In an interview with a news portal, Anant said that the song has nudity content even though the basis of controversy is the outfit Deepika is wearing. He also added that this is not the proper way to depict women.

He told Asianet that showing women in such a way is not part of our culture. According to him, had the censor board done their job, this would not have happened in the first place. Mr. Nag also added that the content on OTT has all sorts of nasty and offensive stuff, and that there is no one to stop them.

Soon after 'Besharam Rang' was released by Yash Raj films, the film created a storm on social media with several groups raising objections to the colour of Deepika's bikini set which was saffron in colour. According to reports, the close up shots of Deepika's back, 'side pose' ( revealing partial nudity) and sensual dance movements  during the lyrics 'Bahut tang kiya' have all been censored and replaced with 'suitable shots' by the CBFC. However, whether or not, Deepika's controversial orange swimsuit has been removed, is still not known.

Ever since the teaser release, the SRK starrer 'Pathaan' has become another target of the infamous 'Boycott Bollywood' trend on Twitter where people have been sharing memes, posters and reasons why they should boycott the upcoming Siddharth Anand film.

'Pathaan' also stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead. The film is all set to be released on January 25, 2023.
