New Delhi: There may be various real-life examples in the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani tale. And one of them might be a Bollywood power couple. The primary characters of Karan Johar's newest film may have been subconsciously influenced by Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar, the director claimed in a recent interview with Mid-Day.

Karan Johar, who returned to the director's chair with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani' after six years, talked about his influence for the storyline. He said, "Maybe subconsciously (I got inspired). They have a tremendous friendship in their marriage. I've had dinners with them, meals with them, hung out with them. And there's a terrific kind of comfort in their camaraderie. He finds her hilarious, she finds him hilarious, for different reasons. So I felt it wasn't impossible for people who come from two different demographics of society, two stratas, to actually find love. It's like we put ourselves in boxes. Like when we're finding a relationship, we put ourselves in places where we're comfortable. But tomorrow, you can fall in love with someone anywhere."

About Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna are one of the most popular star couples of Bollywood. While collaborating on Umesh Mehra's 1999 action movie International Khiladi, the two stars began dating. After being married in 2001, they became parents to a boy named Aarav and a daughter named Nitara.

Prior to leaving the boarding school, Karan attended Twinkle's similar school as a child. In his 1998 directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he wrote Tina, a character called after Twinkle's nickname, specifically for her, but she turned down the offer. Rani Mukerji eventually took on the job. Twinkle and Karan are still close to this day.

Under Karan's production company Dharma Productions, Akshay has appeared in a number of films, including the sports drama Brothers from Karan Malhotra in 2015, the historical drama Kesari from Anurag Singh in 2019, the romantic comedy Good Newz from Raj Mehta in 2019, the police drama Sooryavanshi from Rohit Shetty in 2021, and most recently, Raj Mehta's dramedy Selfiee from earlier this year.
