Chennai: Actress Kangana Ranaut paid a tribute at the memorial of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa near Marina Beach in Chennai on Saturday morning. She visited the memorial ahead of the release of the new film ‘Thalavii which is based on the former Chief Minister.

Kangana was seen clad in an orange and red saree with her hair piled up in a bun and gajra.

According to a Times of India report, the movie ‘Thalaivii’ is expected to hit theatres on September 10. Its makers have decided to release the biopic on the OTT platform two weeks after its theatrical release. The decision has irritated multiplex owners and they have been demanding a wider time gap between the theatrical release and the release of the movie on OTT platforms.

Speaking to ETimes, the producer of the movie Vishnuvardhan Induri said, they are still negotiating with them and they also should ensure that they could recover their investment. “The theatre owners should support us because we are taking the risk of releasing the film in theatres despite the fact that as producers we have got returns from non-theatrical platforms,” he told ETimes.
