New Delhi: Kajol Devgan has been one of the most celebrated actresses of Bollywood. The actress has delivered many hits like the iconic thriller 'Gupt' alongside Bobby Deol which has often been referred to as a good prototype of Hindi film thrillers. During an interaction with Pinkvilla around the special screening of 'Gupt', Kajol discussed the evolution of stardom, it's present state due to social media and her being a part of the Oscars' committee 2022 among other things.
Kajol also shared the importance of music in films. Sharing that people remember parts of good films but music adds 'longevity' to a film which is then easily remembered in chunks.
Kajol also shared that it was easier for films of her time to become hits because there was no 'other source of entertainment' like YouTube or other modes of entertainment.
Kajol Devgan shared that with social media, the old concept of stardom has diluted a bit. She told Pinvilla in a video interview, "The influx of people on social media has diluted it. The only people who were famous were the only people on the big screen. Now you can be famous for n number of things - way you comb your hair, nails etc. There are so many ways to be famous today. Fame has itself become a very used common pronoun."
Most people put their entire lives on social media and are doing only that one thing 24 hours. Half the time they are on screen, half the time they are on social media.” Claiming she is not criticizing them, she added, “I truly admire that they are able to put in that much time and energy but it does dilute your (stardom). If you can see somebody on social media, why will you to go to the screen to watch them.”
While many may not agree with Kajol as from social media following we have seen the personalities who have more number of followers also witness a massive footfall for their films but then again, this is not true for all artists and actors.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kajol was seen in Netflix film ‘Tribhanga’.
