Ranveer Singh’s latest film ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ was released on May 13 and has opened to a poor start at the box office. The film, directed by Divyang Thakkar, collected Rs 3.25 cr on its opening day, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Taran Adarsh shared Jayeshbhai Jordaar's first-day earnings and wrote, "#JayeshbhaiJordaar has a shockingly low start on Day 1... Day 2 and 3 very crucial... Fri 3.25 cr. #India biz (sic)."
The film had a social message and was expected to do good at the box office considering it is a Ranveer Singh starrer but it showed a very dismal start at the ticket counters.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ is the ninth highest opening day grosser of 2022. The film has fared better than Ajay Devgn's 'Runway 34' which had collected Rs 3 cr, but has failed to surpass other releases like 'Attack – Part 1' which collected Rs 3.38 cr, 'The Kashmir Files' which collected Rs 3.55 cr, 'Radhe Shyam' which collected Rs 4.44 cr and 'Heropanti 2' which had collected Rs. 6.50 cr.
Going by the reviews of 'Jayeshbhai Jordaar' and audience turnout on day one, it is highly unlikely that the film will fare better in the coming days.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film also marks 'Arjun Reddy' fame Shalini Pandey’s Bollywood debut.
The film focuses on how he takes a stand for his wife and the unborn child, when his parents played by Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah, force his wife (played by Shalini Pandey) to get an abortion after she expects a girl child for the second time.
