New Delhi: Actor and screenwriter Salim Khan's wife Helen has opened up about her marriage in a recent interaction. In the teaser of the upcoming episode of 'The Invincibles', Helen spoke about her marriage, her career to Salim's son Arbaaz Khan. Also known as the dancing diva of the Bindi film industry during the 50s and 60s, Helen married Salim Khan in 1980 after the two dated for a few years. Meanwhile, Salim Khan was already married and had children.

Helen shared that it must have been 'tough' for his first wife Salma Khan. Helen married Salim when she was 42 and the latter was 45.

Helen also added that when she began dating Salim, his wife Salma had to 'go through a lot'. Salman Khan and Sushila Charak, later Salma Khan, married each other in 1954 after dating for a few years. Together, they are parents to three sons, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. Meanwhile, Salim and Salma have two daughters Alvira Khan and Arpita Khan.

In the teaser of the upcoming episode of 'The Invincibles, Helen also spoke about her dance numbers and how she quit her career in films. "I was very lucky to be able to continue dancing (in films) till the age of 42. People used to think that 'film industry main kaam nahi karna chahiye, yeh achi baat nahi hai (working in films was not considered a good thing at that time)'. The heroines practically took over, they started wearing clothes that no heroine would wear in those days. It was my destiny, – this much Helen and no further."

When Arbaaz asked Helen if it was around the same time that she met Salim Khan, his father, she replied, "He (Salim) gave me a role (in a film). We became friends, mummy was very nice; (it must have been tough) for your mom, she must have gone through a lot at that time. I think destiny brought me close to all of you and I must thank all of you... I never ever wanted a separation from the family (for Salim)."
