New Delhi: ‘The Tashkent Files’ actor Asif Basra has allegedly committed suicide on November 12, 2020. Reportedly, he was found hanging in a private guest house at Mcleodganj in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The ‘Kai Po Che!’ actor who started his career in 1991, was supposedly suffering from depression.

Asif was a method actor and started his career from theatres. Emraan Hashmi, who shared the screen space with the ‘Paatal Lok’ actor in the 2010 movie ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’, recently opened up about Asif’s alleged suicide and his experience of working with him.

Emraan Hashmi told TOI, “I am extremely shocked. We have lost so many actors this year. Add this to the several miseries 2020 has brought. What a grief-stricken year!”

Reminiscing the days of working with the ‘Jab We Met’ actor, Emraan said, “I had kept in touch with Asif over text messages after the film and then we bumped into each other a couple of times. I followed his work. He was a very good actor. I loved him in 'Hichki' and 'Paatal Lok'. I will never forget the scene I shot with him and Randeep Hooda for 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' at Yari Road. It was a jail shot.”

“Asif had a very sunny disposition, he was a very chilled out guy. He had a very captivating face. You could make out he was a nice person”, added Hashmi.

The ‘Baadshaho’ actor concluded by saying, “You can't know how people react to things and what has actually happened. You can never know everything about any person, howsoever close you might be to him/her.”

On the professional front, Emraan Hashmi will be next seen starring in ‘Chehre’ and ‘Mumbai Saga’.
