Bollywood veteran Dilip Kumar has been discharged from Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital today(Friday, June 11,2021).


The 98-year-old superstar had been admitted on June 6 after he complained of breathlessness and later being diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion.


Sharing the news of Dilip Kumar being discharged from the hospital, his family friend Faisal Farooqui wrote on Twitter: “With your love and affection, and your prayers, Dilip Saab is going home from the hospital. God’s infinite mercy and kindness through Drs. Gokhale, Parkar, Dr. Arun Shah and the entire team at Hinduja Khar.”




On Friday morning, Dr Jalil Parkar had issued a statement about Dilip Kumar's health update that read: "Actor Dilip Kumar will be discharged from Mumbai's PD Hinduja Hospital today. He was admitted to the hospital after he complained of breathing problems," reported news agency ANI.


A few days ago, after Dilip Kumar’s hospitalisation, the veteran star’s wife Saira Banu urged people not to believe rumours related to the Kumar’s health.


“My husband, my Kohinoor our Dilip Kumar Sahab’s health is stable and doctors have assured me that he should be discharged soon. I urge you not to believe in rumours. While I ask you to pray for Sahab’s health, I am praying that the almighty keep all of you safe and healthy during this pandemic, she said in a statement.



Dilip Kumar born as Muhammad Yusuf Khan on December 11, 1922 made his acting debut in 1944 film Jwar Bhata.


The Bollywood veteran is best known for his performances in Kohinoor, Mughal-e-Azam, Shakti, Naya Daur and Ram Aur Shyam among many others and was last seen in the 1998 film Qila.
