Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, recently spoke about the challenges her daughter faced while working on the film ‘Dostana’. She particularly recalled director Tarun Manshukhani’s intimidating demeanor and how Priyanka was apprehensive about dealing with him. In a candid conversation with Lehren Retro, Madhu shared an incident where Priyanka fell ill during the shoot and was reluctant to inform the director herself, fearing his reaction. This prompted Madhu to intervene on her behalf, leading to a tense exchange.
When Priyanka fell ill during the Dostana shoot
Madhu described Tarun as a different person back then, noting that he was quite formidable. Recalling the incident, she told Lehren Retro, “Tarun, as I know him today, was not the same Tarun. He was a very scary man. One day, Priyanka had a high fever. She asked for a pill, and I gave one to her. She was insisting that she’ll go to work. But even after an hour or so, the fever wouldn’t subside. I told her that she must rest it out and not go to work. She asked me to tell Tarun, because she didn’t want to be the one to break the news to him.”
Taking charge of the situation, Madhu called Tarun to inform him that Priyanka wouldn’t be able to report to set that day. However, his sarcastic response took her aback. “How convenient,” he remarked. Madhu retorted, “If you want her to die on your set, I’ll send her. But if something happens to her, you’ll be responsible for it.” Over time, their equation improved, and they have since become friends. Now, Tarun playfully teases her about the confrontation, joking, “If you want my daughter to die…”
