New Delhi: Actor Vikrant Massey has been stealing hearts ever since the incredible success of his latest movie, '12th Fail'. The actor also began the journey of fatherhood as he welcomed his first child with wife Sheetal Thakur, earlier this month. Vikrant recently opened up about his thriving career in television and why he quit the industry at a time when he was earning Rs 35 lakhs per month at the age of 24 in an interview with Samdish.

Vikrant said, “I earned a lot in TV. I bought my first house at the age of 24. But all that regressive content on TV was happening simultaneously and I felt like coming out of the world and trying my luck in cinema. My parents were in shock when I told them I was going to restart in films. I was making a lot of money. At the age of 24, I was earning Rs 35 lakh per month, especially for someone who comes from a middle-class background. I quit TV at the time when I had a Rs 35 lakh per month contract in my hand. I decided to do good work and find peace. My savings got exhausted in a year and then my wife Sheetal (his girlfriend at the time) used to give me pocket money for auditions.”

The actor also talked about Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the director of his critically acclaimed film '12th Fail.' Vikrant revealed how Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Boman Irani's character Virus (Viru Sahastra Buddhe) from the film 3 Idiots are quite similar.

Drawing similarities between Vidhu and Boman Irani's character, Vikrant said, "Vidhu Vinod Chopra is so passionate, he works 16 hours a day even today. Even if he sleeps at 2 am, he will be up for a morning walk at 7 am. He walks faster than me. The food you get at his house is outstanding he has 5-star chefs at home. From what I have known, for the last 30 years, Vidhu Vinod Chopra has to take an afternoon nap. Lately, he has started listening to a podcast that is 28 minutes long and wherever he is in the world, he follows the circadian cycle. Viru Sahastra Buddhe is inspired by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Just like how Virus used to lie down and get his beard shaved, that is Vidhu Vinod Chopra.”
