Vikramaditya Motwane is not happy with the screen space and distribution of Allu Arjun's mega-blockbuster 'Pushpa 2'. The 'CTRL' filmmaker recently expressed his disappointment with the screen space 'Pushpa 2' has got and how the grand success of the film has completely wiped away a Golden Globe nominee and a Cannes winning Payal Kapadia's film 'All We Imagine As Light'.

Vikramaditya Motwane congratulates Payal Kapadia

Recently, Vikramaditya Motwane took to his Instagram stories to congratulate All We Imagine As Light's director Payal Kapadia for securing two nominations at the Golden Globe Awards 2025.

Speaking about his disappointment that her film was not able to make it to the big screens when films such as 'Pushpa 2' continue to enjoy multiple daily shows. Sharing a screenshot of multiple screenings of Pushpa 2, Vikramaditya wrote, "And yet, Payal’s incredible success will mean f**k all to us because we will throw her film out, not let it breathe or find an audience, and will have 36 shows a day of one film in a single multiplex. Congratulations. We deserve this (sic)."

Vikramaditya takes a dig at multiplex chains for monopilised screening

The ‘Udaan’ director went on to share a screenshot of a review and added, "Not that we should start feeling sorry for our favourite multiplex chain( yeah you know the one). The irony of them being strong-armed after they've done the exact same thing in the past multiple times to producers is just..."

"Either way, this is a terrible precedent to set. Multiplexes cannot and should not be monopolised in this way. If every big film started doing this it would be disastrous."

For those unaware, Rana Dabbugati’s production house picked up AWIAL for screenings across India. However, the film’s varied screenings across the country led to several fans pointing out the disparity about the screenings, limited shows or the film being taken off because of empty theatres.

About Pushpa 2

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa 2' is the sequel of the 2021 pan-India super-hit film 'Pushpa'. Directed by Sukumar, 'Pushpa 2' stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. While the first Pushpa film was a big hit, 'Pushpa 2' only took about 2 days to beat its prequel's record and collected more than Rs. 600 cr by Tuesday.
