New Delhi: Actress Sophie Choudry has bravely shared her experiences with public harassment, revealing that her encounters with flashers began as a schoolgirl in London and continue to haunt her in Mumbai’s upscale Bandra. In a candid interview with Hauterrfly, Sophie recounted a recent incident that underscores the pervasive nature of such behavior, stating, “It happens across the world."
Sophie described an incident in which a guy flashed her in broad daylight in Bandra. She shared, “It happened just a month ago. I was driving through a lane in Bandra when I noticed a man literally unzipping and putting everything on display. It was shocking.”
She highlighted offenders' careless behaviour, noting, “I don’t even think some men realise what they’re doing. Sometimes, it’s so casual for them, like it’s not even criminal. There have been times when men have stopped their bikes while I was walking in Khar and just exposed themselves.”
Sophie Choudry On Being Flashed In London
The artist revealed that her first encounter with such predatory behavior occurred years ago, and far from India. Sophie Choudry shared, “The first time someone flashed at me was when I was a schoolgirl in London. It happens across the world, but that doesn’t make it any less horrifying.”
“One issue we celebs face a lot is people approaching us and asking if they can click a picture with us. Of course you can. But while at it, they slyly try to slide their hand on your waist from behind. They always try to hold you by the waist when they are trying to take a picture with you as a fan,” she stated.
