New Delhi: The buzz around 'Animal' refused to die down. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga seems to be answering and getting back at people from the film industry who may have had qualms about his recently released blockbuster 'Animal'. Recently, the filmmaker reacted to actor Parvathy's remarks about his films 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Kabir Singh'.

Although he expressed his desire to collaborate with Kangana Ranaut, who has openly criticized Animal, he wasn't quite so kind as Parvathy's previous remarks regarding his previous projects.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, he said, "People don’t understand what glorification means. They expect a lecture from the hero in the climax, where he admits to all his mistakes. They expect the hero to die a dog’s death. Forget regular people, even actors don’t understand this.”

“There was one Malayalam actor, Parvathy Thirovothu I think her name was. She said in an interview that Joker didn’t glorify killing. When Joker dances on the stairs while a song plays, she didn’t think that was glorification. I was shocked. She’s a very good actor, and if someone like her can feel Joker doesn’t glorify violence but Kabir Singh does, then what can we expect of the general public.” He added.

“Arjun Reddy or Kabir Singh both had the visual grammar of glorification, Joker did not. At no point did I feel at the character Joaquin (Phoenix) played (and think) ‘Arre yaar, I totally agree with you. You must kill everyone’.” Parvathy had said during a 2019 roundtable interview with Film Companion.

Vanga expressed his surprise at the severe criticism directed at Kabir Singh, pointing out that no one had pointed out Arjun Reddy's shortcomings. Animal became a huge smash in spite of the criticism, earning more than Rs 900 crore globally.

Meanwhile, Parvathy has been quite vocal about her opinions on movies and the state of affairs in the entertainment industry and the country on social media.

She often shares her opinion on several issues through her Instagram account.
