Actor Saif Ali Khan is set to be discharged from Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, six days after being critically injured in a knife attack during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence. The discharge formalities are underway, and the actor is expected to leave the hospital shortly.

Saif’s team told ABP News that the actor's mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, is by his side. Meanwhile, his wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, had been at the hospital but left for home a short while ago. As per reports, Saif has been advised to complete bed rest for a week and is not to receive visitors to minimize the risk of infection.

A heavy security presence has been established both at the hospital and at Saif Ali Khan's residence, as crowds have begun to gather at both locations in hopes of catching a glimpse of the popular actor.

Saif Ali Khan was attacked with a knife by a man who broke into his home. The actor sustained six stab wounds, including one near his spine, where doctors revealed the knife came within just 2 mm of his spinal cord. Despite heavy bleeding, he was rushed to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw late Wednesday night. The spinal fluid had leaked, prompting urgent surgery to address the damage. Additionally, the actor underwent plastic surgery to treat injuries to his arm and neck.

Mumbai police has arrested Shariful Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national who had illegally entered India and was living under the false identity of Bijoy Das. He has been accused of breaking into actor Saif Ali Khan's home and attacking him. Earlier today, the accused was taken to Saif Ali Khan's Bandra residence to reenact the crime as part of the ongoing investigation.
