New Delhi: Sandeep Reddy Vanga's crime drama 'Animal', starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, became a major success in 2023, earning over Rs 900 crore globally. Rashmika Mannada, who plays one of the lead roles in 'Animal,' recently discussed the film and shared some details about a particular scene where she slapped Ranbir Kapoor’s character.

During a pivotal scene, Geetanjali (Rashmika) smacks her husband Ranvijay (Ranbir) for being honest about his infidelity with Zoya (Tripitii) and wanting to know her true intentions. Rashmika recently spoke about filming the sequence and how she consoled Ranbir after the scene.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Rashmika said, "The whole sequence was one take because there was a lot of moving. It wasn’t predictable. I didn’t know what I was going to do. Sandeep told me just to feel how a person in this situation would feel. I remember only this. I don’t remember anything between the action and the cut. I just can’t process it. My brain was just going blank."

She added, "After the sequence, I was crying for real. I have slapped him, I am screaming, the chaos is happening and I go to Ranbir and I am like, ‘Was that okay? Are you okay?'. We finished that sequence in half a day. I loved it, and at that moment I realised that this is the high of being an actor. People don’t write sequences like this every time. I am so glad that I did this movie and this sequence. I was surprised with myself."

The highly anticipated and commercially successful film 'Animal,' directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was a major hit with audiences. One camp said the film glorified toxic masculinity and misogyny and showed too much violence; the other camp defended it as honest and raw, urging the critics to see it for what it is: a film—not a morality tale. A father-son connection is the central theme of the film.
