New Delhi: Actor Randeep Hooda, who will next be seen in 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar', plays Veer Savarkar in the film. The actor lost 26 kg for the role, as several of his scenes were filmed in prison. Earlier, there were reports that the actor survived only on a glass of milk and one date daily for four months. Now the actor has denied these reports and said that though he transformed for the role, his diet consisted of several other things.

In a conversation with AajTak.in, Randeep said that he was never on just milk and dates diet, and such eating habits are dangerous to health. “The news that has come is not correct at all. I wanted to give correct information through you. Look, many people are in a rush to lose weight. I am afraid that people may not start copying after reading such news. I want to clarify that I was not on a diet of milk and dates. This is very dangerous, it can spoil your health. Do not follow this at all,” he told AajTak.in.

The actor further added that it is true that he lost 26 kg but under the supervision of his sister Dr. Anjali Hooda, who is an internal medicine specialist.

“During this time I followed paleo diet, intermittent fasting, and vitamin supplements. I had to lose 6 to 7 kgs in five days. I have gone through all these processes. That too under the supervision of experts. The wrong news that was spread, that dates and milk reduce weight, is very unhealthy. I didn't only eat dates, I used to eat things like eggs, chile, nuts, and dark chocolate at different stages. Meanwhile, I had also fixed cheat dates for myself,” he told AajTak.in.

Randeep is also making his directorial debut with the film. When the film was announced, Mahesh Manjrekar was supposed to direct the film but had to step down due to date issue. Randeep then took over as director. He has also co-written the screenplay and dialogues with Utkarsh Naithani.

The film, also starring Ankita Lokhande and Amit Sial, is slated to release in cinemas this year.

This is not the first time Randeep Hooda has undergone a drastic transformation for a film. For the 2016 film ‘Sarabjit’ the actor had lost 20kg in 28 days.
