About Tanu Weds Manu franchise

R Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut starred together in the 2011 film 'Tanu Weds Manu' and its sequel 'Tanu Weds Manu' in 2015. Both films were big successes and revolved around a romantic comedy involving the two most unlikely people, played by Kangana and R Madhavan.

The film also starred Swara Bhasker, Deepak Dobriyal and Jimmy Sheirgill. The film had a rustic and rooted flavour which many audiences loved.

Earlier, Madhavan added that he was 'done' with the franchise, and added, it was 'water under the bridge'. "I think that’s water under the bridge. There is no point in beating a dead horse… You know, it’s so difficult to come up with original stuff, and then there are expectations of a film. See, if it’s a sequel to Avengers or a superhero series, it’s easier because you have a template. But with Tanu Weds Manu, it’s impossible. And I think I am done with it. I don’t want to go back to being Manu now,” Madhavan had told YouTube Jaby Koey.
