Acclaimed actor Prakash Raj recently discussed the devastating death of his son at the age of 10 during the ABP Southern Rising Summit 2024. Married to Lalitha Kumari and a father to two daughters, Meghna and Pooja, Prakash Raj candidly expressed the feelings of helplessness that accompany such loss.
Speaking about his son’s death, Prakash Raj said, “Pain is a very personal thing whether it's my friend Gauri (Gauri Lankesh) and my son Sidharth. But, then I just can't become selfish. I have daughters, I have family, I have a profession, I have people. As a human being, I have a life and I am accountable for that too.”
He expressed his intention to share joy instead of wallowing in sadness, implying that this strategy alleviates his pain. “I would rather share my joys than my pain because it eases the personal pain and I don't want to brood on it. Some wounds are deeper than flesh and you need to live with that,” the actor said.
While acknowledging that death is a part of life, he also urged people to discover reasons to live. “I am human. It disturbs me, it hurts me, it feels very helpless. But then, let's find reasons to live. Death is eventually there always,” he concluded.
What makes Prakash Raj happy?
The actor revealed his deep affection for farms when questioned about his sources of happiness. He mentioned owning farms in various locations, including Kodaikanal, Chennai, Mysore, and Hyderabad.
He shared, "My farms make me happy. My children make me happy. I have farms everywhere. I have a farm in Kodaikanal. I have one in Chennai. I have one in Mysore. I have one in Hyderabad. I don’t have buildings in the cities. I want to say thank you nature, so I am just growing trees, giving back the oxygen."
Prakash Raj continued, "All my farms are my conversation with nature. I have bought only those farms which were in a very bad situation. Now, I worked on the humus of it. In Kodai, I’ve left many trees just the way they are and I a growing some avocados and peppers. In Hyderabad, it’s mango. In Mysore, I’ve created a theatre incubating centre."
