New Delhi: Actress Mona Singh reminisced about her time on the hit TV show ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’. She recently said in an interview that, due to her dual existence, she felt like a "Spider-Man" while filming the serial. The Sony TV series catapulted Mona into the limelight, not only making her a household name but also bringing her a substantial paycheck, which left her in disbelief.

In a recent conversation with Entertainment Live, Mona shared that landing the role of Jassi was the result of two years of relentless auditions in Mumbai. Interestingly, she wasn't hired by the production house but directly by Sony TV, who were impressed by her audition tape.

The bombshell came when she was informed of her salary - a staggering Rs 1.5 lakhs per month, which she promptly shared with her parents in tears of joy from a nearby STD booth.

Mona Singh said, "I went to the STD booth since my phone had run out of battery. I called my parents and I was crying inconsolably. I was like, ‘Mumma, guess what? Merko Rs 1.5 lakh mil rahe hain (I am getting Rs 1.5 lakh) My mom was like, ‘What!’ I told her, ‘You go and shop wherever you want to, buy whatever you want to.’ She couldn’t believe it, she was like, ‘Chotu, itna kamayegi.’”

However, Mona's astonishment didn't end there. A month later, she received an unexpected appraisal from the channel head, Sunil Lulla, who recognised her growing stardom and increased her salary to Rs 3.5 lakhs per month.

The actress added, “I felt I am spiderman, ghar mein kuch aur, bahar kuch aur. People didn’t recognise me on the streets. But my voice was a giveaway. Every time I opened my mouth in public, be it at the airport or a shop, people would look at me with suspicion. That was an amazing feeling. Even when I smiled, people would be like, ‘Is she Jassi?’ The channel used to take care of me since it was a tough show and the media had challenged the channel that they were going to find out who is Jassi.”
