After giving a performance at a concert in Kolkata in May 2022, KK passed away. Fans and family members of the musician were shocked by the singer's untimely death. He was 53. His son Nakul shared a note in his father's memory and discussed his suffering a few days after his death. A part of his note read as, "Took me a while to come to terms with what happened 3 weeks ago. Even now the pain is physical, like I’m being choked, as though people are standing on my chest. I wanted to say something, share anything about my dad but I finally understood immobility in a state of shock. I finally comprehend true pain, I’ve only now realised the privilege you granted me, not the privilege of a comfortable life, I always knew I was blessed in that regard. The greatest privilege I ever had was the opportunity to witness you everyday."
KK rose to fame with the release of his first album 'Pal.' He then gained popularity for singing Bollywood songs like "Tadap Tadap" (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam), "Dus Bahane" (Dus), "Tune Maari Entriyaan" (Gunday), "Gori Gori" (Main Hoon Na), "Tu Jo Mila" (Bajrangi Bhaijaan), "Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai" (Woh Lamhe), and numerous others. Along with many other languages, he also sung in Malayalam, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu.
