An old video from the 2007 Filmfare Awards has made its way back to social media, reminding fans of a touching moment between Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. In the resurfaced footage, Jaya is seen accepting an award on stage, but she takes a heartfelt detour to speak about Aishwarya. “I am going to be a mother-in-law all over again to a wonderful, lovely girl who has great values, has great dignity and a lovely smile. I welcome you to the family, I love you," she said, leaving Aishwarya visibly emotional in the audience. The camera also pans to Amitabh Bachchan, who is seated beside her, witnessing the moving exchange.

Jaya Bachchan praises Aishwarya Rai

This isn’t the only time Jaya Bachchan has spoken fondly about her daughter-in-law. During an earlier appearance on 'Koffee With Karan', she was asked whether Aishwarya was the ideal match for their family. She said, “I think so. I think it's wonderful because she is such a big star herself. But when we all are together, I have never ever seen her push herself, I like that quality that she stands behind, she’s quiet, she listens and she’s taking it all in. Another beautiful thing is she’s fitted in so well. Not just into the family, but she knows that this is family, these are good friends, this is how one is supposed to be. I think she’s a strong lady, she has a lot of dignity.”

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan tied the knot in a high-profile wedding in 2007. Though the couple has mostly stayed out of the limelight in terms of their private life, recent rumours hinted at a possible rift between the two. Neither Aishwarya nor Abhishek have addressed the speculation.
