Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun said that he would help the family of the woman who was killed in the stampede at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. After his release on Saturday morning, Allu Arjun said: "The incident was extremely unfortunate. Such an incident has never happened before... I have been visiting the theatre for 20 years. I have been there more than 30 times."
"I thank everyone for the love and support. I want to thank all my fans. There is nothing to worry about. I am fine. I am a law-abiding citizen and will cooperate. I would like to once again express my condolences to the family. It was an unfortunate incident. We are sorry for what happened," he said.
"I shall support the family in whatever way I can," he said.
Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday, December 13, in relation to a case registered over a stampede that claimed the life of a woman on December 4. The stampede occurred after the crowd that had come to watch the premiere of the movie 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' went berserk when Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre.
The 'Pushpa 2' star was granted interim bail on Friday evening but had to spend the night in Chanchalguda Central Jail. He was released from the prison on Saturday morning. He was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000.
While the police and the Telangana government said they were only following the law in arresting Allu Arjun, the BJP took the opportunity to target the Congress. Many senior leaders, including ministers, alleged that Allu Arjun's arrest was "proof" that the "Congress has no respect for the creative industry".
