Actor Allu Arjun has filed a petition in the Telangana High Court seeking the dismissal of an FIR filed against him in connection with the tragic death of a woman during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2 at a Hyderabad theatre. The incident occurred on December 4, when a massive crowd gathered at Sandhya Theatre to catch a glimpse of the star.

The 35-year-old woman died of asphyxiation in the chaos, while her eight-year-old son was hospitalised. Following the tragedy, the Chikkadpally police registered a case on December 5 against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The FIR was based on a complaint filed by the woman’s family.
As part of the investigation, authorities arrested three individuals associated with the theatre: one of the owners, a senior manager, and the lower balcony in charge.
In his petition, Arjun has sought a stay on all legal proceedings, including potential arrest, until the matter is resolved in court. The Telangana High Court is expected to hear his plea in the coming days.
Allu Arjun announced 25 lakh for the deceased's family
The actor had earlier announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh for the deceased woman’s family. The actor had expressed his condolences in a 3-minute-47-second video shared on X.
“Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally,” he wrote.
Speaking in Telugu, Arjun described the crowd at the theatre as “unexpected” and shared he only learned about the tragic incident the following morning. “We found out that a mother of two children, Revathi, unfortunately, died. It’s shocking and deeply saddening. We make films for people to enjoy, and something like this is devastating. None of us feel like celebrating,” he said.
