For the event in New York, Bhatt picked a custom-made, hand-embroidered saree by Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. While the fans are still relishing the breathtaking moment Alia gave us at the Met Gala, Reddit has found old pictures of Deepika Padukone wearing a similar saree. The users have been claiming Alia’s ensemble is inspired by Deepika’s look.

Alia Bhatt, who was styled by Anaita Shroff Adjania for the Met Gala, picked a stunning saree, which has a 23-foot-long embroidered train. The hand-embroidered saree with silk floss took 1965 man-hours to create. The floral saree also features beaded tassels on the borders, a ruffled pleat, and a tulle bow detail on the back.

Back in 2017, Deepika Padukone showed up at the Marathi Filmfare Awards wearing a saree designed by Sabyasachi. Her sheer tulle saree featured floral applique, embroidered border, and a long train.
A Reddit user posted a picture of Alia and Deepika's sarees from the two events. "Sabyasachi has to stop copy-pasting his old looks," the title read.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt is gearing up for her upcoming film, ‘Jigra’, directed by Vasan Bala, The film is set to hit theatres on September 27.
