New Delhi: Deepika Padukone was revealed to be playing Ranbir Kapoor's mother Amrita in Ayan Mukerji's ‘Barhmastra Part 2- Dev’ after the film's OTT version provided a clear image of her look. This put an end to all the rumours and speculations that had been circulating about the casting of the role of Amrita.

Some of Deepika's devoted followers who saw Barhmastra Part I at the theatres said they saw her there. Those who only saw it in 2D, however, complained that they couldn't even make out the actress's face. In contrast, OTT eliminated all uncertainty.

Now that the extended version has been out, there can be no more questions about Deepika's suitability for the role of Amrita in ‘Brahmastra 2’. This version includes a scene shortly after the intermission in which Deepika can be seen carrying newborn Shiva. Supposedly, Deepika's role will have a major impact on Shiva's development and metamorphosis.

‘Brahmastra: Part One Shiva’, which was launched on September 9 began its trip in the realm of OTT on November 4. Fans saw the film on Hotstar and afterward swamped the internet with comments confirming that the actress is, in fact, Deepika.

‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’ begins Ayan Mukerji's Astraverse trilogy. The film stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni. There was a good reception to the film from audiences, and it grossed over Rs 425 crore globally.

Reportedly, Ranveer Singh will appear in the sequel. How the Astraverse progresses in Brahmastra's sequel and beyond will be fascinating.

Deepika Padukone, meantime, will be seen in Siddharth Anand's ‘Pathaan’ with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham.
