New Delhi: Farah Khan surprised everyone by taking over Salman Khan's Weekend Ka Vaar segment and reprimanded many contestants for their misbehaviour. With Farah taking over as host, the format changed drastically, and she made her presence known with stern remarks. Actress Shilpa Shirodkar revealed an interesting story about her career as the show went on, revealing that she had been rejected by Farah Khan from the 1998 film Dil Se's renowned song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’.

Shilpa Shirodkar Reveals She Was Rejected for 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'

Shilpa Shirodkar was having a conversation with Karanveer Mehra and Chum Daran when she remembered how Farah Khan had first contacted her about the Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora song.

Shilpa elaborated, "She (Farah) approached me for Chaiyya Chaiyya," but there was a catch. Reportedly, Farah advised Shilpa to lose weight for the song. But Shilpa found out after a week or so that she had dropped out from the part. She was turned away by Farah, who said, "You are fat for the song."

The discussion continued Karanveer Mehra, who found the story entertaining, joked with Shilpa and questioned,  "Tu chadti toh train rukh jaati kya? (Would the train have stopped if you had climbed onto it?).

With her trademark humour, Shilpa replied, claiming that the only people who could justify her removal from the now-iconic song would be Farah Khan and ‘Dil Se' director, Mani Ratnam.
