The long-anticipated Byomkesh-series 'Durgo Rawhoshyo' has finally started streaming from October 19, taking viewers into a nerve-wrenching thrilling journey with Byomkesh, Satyabati, Ajit and many others. This Srijit Mukherji directorial, which stars Anirban Bhattacharya, Sohini Sarkar, and Rahul Banerjee, in the lead roles and holds a cherished spot within Hoichoi- a bengali OTT platform.
Talking about the movie, Anirban Bhattacharya has masterfully portrayed the character of Byomkesh Bakshi, while Sohini and Rahul can been seen as Satyabati and Ajit respectively. But, apart from this it brought tears in the eyes of the audience when they found out Anirban bidding farewell to the Byomkesh franchise with Srijit Mukherji's 'Durgo Rawhoshyo'. In an exclusive video titled "Shesh Baar," the actor eloquently shared his sentiments and extended his gratitude to all those who have been part of the Byomkesh franchise for many years.
Commenting about playing the role of Byomkesh since 2017, Anirban said, "I have played Byomkesh numerous times on screen, been the Creative Director also for one season but I’m delighted to end my journey of playing this iconic character of Byomkesh Bakshi, with Durgo Rawhoshyo. Thus, it will always have a special place in my heart. Lastly, I really feel blessed, and I think it’s a bonus that I get to share this with the legendary director Srijit Mukherji."
Coming to 'Durgo Rawhoshyo', this detective-thriller story is set in the town of Jankigarh, where Byomkesh accompanied by his loyal friend Ajit and pregnant wife Satyabati, answers Inspector Pandey's call to uncover a murder mystery within the enchanting fortress of Jankigarh. As they explore the timeless fortress and its intriguing history, they untangle a web of family secrets, mysterious deaths, and an ancestral treasure. Byomkesh's astute deductions, amidst the impending birth of his child, lead to the unveiling of a cunning perpetrator, the resolution of the crimes, and the discovery of the hidden treasure, transforming the fate of all involved.
Talking about her character, Sohini Sarkar shared with ABP Live, "Byomkesh is one such story in which everyone feels glad to be a part of. Not just as Satyabati but, simply being associated with a 'Byomkesh'-story is a matter of pride as it is the best novel of Bengal in the last 25-30 years. Also Byomkesh is not just a detective he is a truth-seeker which is why there is so much craze regarding this. The audience is always eager to know who is playing Byomkesh, who is the director and all..."
"I have been a part of Byomkesh franchise in the previous four movies which were directed by Arindam Sil and this one is directed by Srijit Mukherji which gives a new and a fresh experience as an actor."
Continuing the chat, Sohini also said that in 'Durgo Rawhoshyo' she got a chance to explore the character of 'Satyabati' in a new way. She said, "When I first played Satyabati, it was 2015, so in the last 8 years- I have changed a lot as a human being, I have become more matured, grown older and my work experience has also increased. All these have an affect on the character I play."
"This time, Satyabati exhibits a multitude of complexities, and I have dedicated myself to portraying them faithfully. The entire team has poured their passion and utmost dedication into this project, and my earnest wish is that the audience embraces it with the same enthusiasm we experienced while creating it," she added.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Sohini was also seen in 'Kabuliwala' this year, where she essayed the role of Mini's mother. Apart from her, Anirban Bhattacharya was also seen in 'Dasam Abataar' which released this durga Puja.
