New Delhi: Badshah recently confessed that he has depression and anxiety issues and used to starve himself in order to maintain his physical appearance.

On an episode of Mirchi ‘Shape of You’, host Shilpa Shetty had a candid conversation with Badshah. Badshah dropped the beans on this episode that he now lives by the basic maxim that the best way to ensure your own mental well-being is to be selfish.

In this episode, Badshah revealed his workout secrets, dispelled some common fitness clichés, and discussed his struggles with anxiety, depression, and sleep apnea.

According to Badshah, he used to starve himself in order to achieve a specific physical appearance for his job, and he would become out of breath during performances, as well as being generally miserable.

He said, "Mental fitness is my priority in life. Mental peace is a luxury for me because of the pressure that we face every day. I have been through the darkest times when it comes to my mental health. I have been through clinical depression, I have been through severe anxiety disorder so I know that I can’t go there again. And to not go there again, you have to be selfish in a good way."

He considers mental health to be a luxury, placing it above physical health as a top priority. Openly acknowledging the necessity of a well-organised existence as well as the importance of keeping in contact with loved ones, friends, and peers, he emphasised the need of taking actions to be happy.

Badshah said, “We live under lots of pressure, we have created a lot of chaos in our life and then we complain that we are not mentally fit. You have to organise, you have to keep your loved ones near you and that’s it.”

Both Badshah and Shilpa Shetty are now appearing on India's Got Talent Season 9, along with legendary actors Kirron Kher and lyricist Manoj Muntashir, respectively.
