New Delhi: Former Shark Ashneer Grover recently made a revelation about a personal story involving his marriage and Kiara Advani. Ashneer Grover recently launched his book 'Doglapan' in which there is a chapter titled 'When Kiara Advani Almost Got Me Divorced’. As promised by Ashneer during the publicity interviews for the book, there is an entire episode on how Kiara Advani indirectly caused havoc in Ashneer Grover's life.
In the book, Ashneer mentions that he recalled meeting a fellow founder friend at his office. During a casual conversation involving him, his friend and his wife Madhuri, Ashneer asked his friend when he was getting married, to which his friend replied, "Kisi movie star se baat chal rahi hai" ( I'm talking with a movie star about it).
On further questioning, Ashneer found that his friend had taken the help of a "Seema Aunty kind of matchmaker who specialized in Bollywood alliances.” Ashneer continued, "When I asked him who his options were, he mentioned Kiara Advani as an eligible match.”
Asheer then recalled what his mother had recently told him about having gotten too big for his shoes and quickly said, "Aap ko pata nahi hai market mein aaj kal kya chal raha hai. Aaj ke din shaadi ho rahi hoti na toh Kiara Advani ka rishta aata aapke bete ke liye"( You don't know what's happening in the market these days, Of I was to get married now, I could be marrying Kiara Advani).
On hearing this, Madhuri( Ashneer's wife) was disappointed. “Madhuri’s face fell on hearing this—she did not find the conversation funny at all. I could see an instant change in her body language,” adding, "We were to travel to Mumbai for the shoot that night. On the aircraft, Madhuri sat tightlipped and wouldn’t speak to me, until they served food and I nagged her to eat it. It was as if a sudden dam had burst. ‘Tumhe Kiara Advani se shaadi karni hai (You want to marry Kiara Advani)?’ she raged, beginning to take off her jewellery.”
Ashneer added that he was 'blasted' by his wife for the next 30 minutes who reminded him that she married him when he was a nobody and that he agreed to join Shark Tank only when she motivated him to. "Through this tirade I sat with my hands held out, holding her jewellery, which she had unceremoniously dumped on me. From the corner of my eye, I could see an old gentleman who had his headphones on to watch a Netflix movie take them off to listen in on the live movie playing out on the aircraft.”
Ashneer also added that he told this story to his fellow 'sharks' who found another reason to pull his leg.
Ashneer Grover was one of the investors on Shark Tank India Season 1. He did not return to the show's second season for undisclosed reasons. In a recent interaction with Indian Express, he said that he 'dominated' the show, and it would be unfair to continue to do so.
