New Delhi: Anupam Kher, who is busy promoting Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai, recently opened up about his wife Kirron Kher’s battle and recovery from cancer. Anupam Kher said her recovery was the biggest relief for him and that his wife is a fighter.

In a recent interview with Times Of India, Anupam said, “It's a big relief. Touch wood. She has started working again. The human spirit is stronger than anything. Giving up is not an option. Just today, someone has sent me a text if I can send him Kirron's voice text as is wife is unwell. These things help and besides, 'Uunchai' is all about healing."

Anupam added that he was worried about Kirron resuming work. “I was worried. The big C is a dreaded illness. But today, medical science has bettered by leaps and bounds. And thankfully, she had a good team of doctors at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital,” Kher told Times of India.

Kirron Kher was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2021. She had opened up about her battle with cancer then in an interview with Hindustan Times.

“It’s not the ideal situation to be in. Par yeh zindagi hai. One learns to deal with them and carry on. There’s no way out except to treat it. Nobody likes going through the treatment or its side effects. Some people get cured and some don’t. Even the doctors don’t know how and why it happened. Medical science doesn’t really have a concrete answer. I would much rather not have it. But it’s something I had to accept,” she had told Hindustan Times.

‘Uunchai’ also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Sarika, Neena Gupta and Parineeti Chopra. The trailer of the film was unveiled last month.

Shot at 17000 plus feet above sea level, with a senior star cast, Uunchai is directed by Sooraj R Barjatya, and produced by his Rajshri Productions in association with Mahaveer Jain Films and Boundless Media.

‘Uunchai’ will release on 11 November.
