New Delhi: There appears to be an unsolved grudge between filmmaker Anil Sharma and actor Ameesha Patel, despite the success of 'Gadar 2' at the box office. Before the movie's premiere, Ameesha accused the director of failing to pay technicians and of mismanaging the set so that many crew members were left starving and stranded. In response to Ameesha Patel's earlier assertion that Tara and Sakina should receive more attention in upcoming installments, the actor has now spoken out about Anil's remark.
The actor asserted that the filmmaker attempted to force his son Utkarsh Sharma into the role and disclosed that Govinda and Mamta Kulkarni were initially the actors the director wanted for Gadar. She also addressed the director's assertions that Sakina, the character she played, was born from "his heart" and revealed that they had never had a positive relationship.
In an interaction with News 18, Ameesha said, "A lot of people have been asking me about my relationship with Mr. Anil Sharma. So here is my answer to all. Our relationship was never good, even during Gadar 1, but he’s family to me and always will be. Like all family members, we don’t always get along, but we’re still family. That’s our bond."
The writer Shaktiman, not Anil Sharma, developed the persona, she continued. She added that Zee (the production company), not Sharma, had cast her.
Ameesha said, “Anil Sharma preferred Mamta Kulkarni over me. Anil Sharma wanted Govinda as Tara, but Zee wanted Sunny. So yes, his and my choices are poles apart. Zee Studios and Sunny have always been the reason for me to do Gadar. The script, which was written by Shaktimanji, as Anilji always says, also, it was Mr. Shaktiman who created Sakina, not Anil Sharma.”
