Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Thursday slapped a defamation notice on the YouTuber Rashid Siddiqui who had made allegations against him in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

A 500 crore suit has been filed by Kumar against against Siddiqui, for falsely claiming that Kumar had aided Rhea Chakraborty to escape to Canada and also had secret talks with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray about the death.

Notably, Siddiqui, a civil engineer from Bihar was earlier arrested by Maharashtra Police for spreading fake news and for dragging Thackeray’s name into the case. He has been accused of defamation, public mischief and intentional insult.

Siddiqui had claimed that Akshay Kumar was not pleased with Sushant Singh Rajput landing the role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.

A report in Midday said that the YouTuber was able to raise the collection from his channel to over Rs 15 Lakh in the months following the death of the Bollywood actor by spreading content about it.  His channel came to the notice of the Mumbai Police after Shiv Sena filed a case against him.

After the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his apartment on June 14, a lot of unchecked content had flooded the internet with different theories about his death.

The case is being looked in by CBI, with the Narcotics Control Bureau and Enforcement Directorate joining the investigation.
