New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar have appeared in several movies, including 'Andaaz', 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', and 'Aitraaz'. On the big screen, they displayed amazing chemistry, and the audience adored it. But after 2005, Akshay stopped working with Priyanka. This was revealed by Suneel Darshan and he also said the main reason behind such a move by Akshay was his wife Twinkle Khanna.

Suneel, who directed 2005 film 'Barsaat', which initially starred Akshay and Priyanka, told that Akshay left the film because of Twinkle's concerns.

Bobby Deol, Priyanka Chopra, and Bipasha Basu appeared in the romantic drama 'Barsaat', which was released in 2005. Akshay was originally cast as the male lead, and Priyanka and Akshay had even shot a song together before Akshay reportedly dropped out of his role and Bobby was cast after that.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Suneel Darshan spoke about the two actors. He said, “Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra were a very good pair, very similar in terms of their personal traits. They had amazing chemistry. I thought the song looked beautiful; no vulgarity, no obscenity, very sensuous. Then Priyanka went on a world tour, and when she came back… I don’t know what happened in between.”

The director further added that he later learned that Twinkle Khanna, had supposedly expressed concerns about the two of them collaborating.

"By then, I had also got to know of the other issues that had come up between him and his wife. She had issues with Priyanka, I was told… I feel the profession has its own hazards. Sometimes, the proximity, sometimes the individual’s own lifestyles, all these things come in the way and the media blows it out of proportion, without realising how much loss a filmmaker could suffer because of it," he was quoted as saying by Bollywood Hungama.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar recently signed up for his Marathi debut. In Mahesh Manrekar's upcoming 'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat', the actor will play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The actor confessed in a conversation that playing the character was a dream come true for him and that he had been a little shocked when he was asked to play it.
