New Delhi: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has special reasons to celebrate Independence Day this year. The 'OMG 2' star, who had taken citizenship of Canada many years ago, has regained his Indian citizenship and shared the news on the occasion of India's 77th Independence Day. Akshay Kumar, who is seen championing patriotism with his full of patriotic fervour films like 'Kesari', 'Airlift' and 'Bell Bottom', among others, is more than elated about regaining his Indian citizenship.


The actor took to his social media handles to share the exciting news with his fans and followers. Taking to his Instagram, Akshay shared a picture that shows him flaunting his Indian citizenship documents. Sharing the picture, he wrote, "Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day!"

On the work front, Akshay Kumar is currently riding high on the success of hi recently released film 'OMG 2'. Based on sex education among teenagers, 'OMG 2' is the sequel to the 2012 film 'Oh My God' starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal.


Akshay Kumar essays the role of Lord Shiva's messenger in the film that also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam Dhar in lead roles. Akshay's U/A certificate film clashed in theatres with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's blockbuster drama 'Gadar 2', which has been roaring at the box office, all set to cross the Rs 200 crore mark within 5 days of its release.


'OMG 2' has also managed to maintain its position at the box office being slow and steady with its numbers, raking in around 50 crore within 4 days of its release.
