New Delhi: Actor Akshay Kumar is the latest celebrity to react to Bollywood actor Richa Chadha’s tweet which has stirred quite a controversy. In the now-deleted tweet, the actor had written "Galwan says hi" in response to the Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi's statement that the Indian Army is "waiting for orders from the govt (sic)" in reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

This led to a severe backlash on Twitter with many criticising her for "mocking the sacrifice" of Indian soldiers.

Sharing a screenshot of Richa's tweet, Akshay wrote, “Hurts to see this. Nothing ever should make us ungrateful towards our armed forces. Woh hain toh aaj hum hain (We exist because of them).”

Richa had also apologiesd for the tweet, she wrote: "Even though it can never be my intention in the least, if the 3 words which are being dragged into a controversy have offended or hurt anyone, I apologise and also say that it would sadden me if even unintentionally my words have triggered this feeling in my brothers in the Fauj of which my own Nanaji has been an illustrious part. As a Lt. Col, he took a bullet in the leg in the Indo-China war, in 1960s. My Mamaji was a paratrooper. It's in my blood, Richa added. A whole family is affected when their son is martyred or even injured while saving the nation which is made up of people like us and I personally know how it feels. It is an emotive issue for me.”

Meanwhile, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit filed a complaint against Richa Chadha at Juhu police station for mocking and insulting security forces.

Ashoke Pandit in his complaint wrote, “I as a citizen of this great country of ours would like to file a complaint against actress Richa Chadha for mocking and insulting our security forces especially who laid down their lives in Galwan valley fighting our enemies.

By this criminal act of hers she has insulted the families of our security forces. Its an act against the nation and hence an FIR should be filed against her for conspiring against the nations internal security.

It's also important to investigate this matter as to which are the antinational forces with her. I therefore request you to do the needful so that no one in future commits the same crime.”
